MSM Walsrode and our traditional product Walsroder® Nitrocellulose have been part of the industrial and technology holding CSG and its MSM GROUP since May 2025. MSM GROUP is a leading European company in the development and production of defense equipment, specialized in artillery and tank ammunition. With its companies, CSG offers the entire production cycle, sales, and service under one roof. Some of these companies can look back on a very long history and tradition.
Our two main pillars
MSM’s operations in Walsrode are built on two core pillars: the production and marketing of nitrocellulose for packaging printing inks and coatings, and the management and development of the Walsrode Industrial Park – a highly attractive location in Northern Germany for companies with significant infrastructure, energy, and security requirements.
Nitrocellulose
Walsroder® Nitrocellulose has been produced at the Bomlitz site since 1879. Continuous investment and the implementation of exceptional safety standards have established our facilities as one of the world’s leading producers and a technological frontrunner in nitrocellulose production.

Walsrode Industrial Park
The Walsrode Industrial Park is a premier location in Northern Germany, offering excellent access to highways, seaports, and airports. Its first-class infrastructure and the strong network of on-site companies create ideal conditions for specialized businesses with high infrastructure and service requirements, particularly in the plastics processing and chemical industries, as well as in the field of renewable raw materials.
200 years of heritage
From a small gunpowder mill on the banks of the Bomlitz River, the site has evolved into a modern industrial park since 1815. Today, several global companies and technology leaders in their respective fields run their worldwide operations from here.
Upgrading our nitrocellulose facility
We are currently expanding and enhancing our nitrocellulose facility. In addition to serving the packaging printing inks and coatings market, we plan to tap into new markets in the defense and security industry in the future.
